March Program
Bartlesville Art Association's March meeting will be held on Tuesday, March 20th at 7 p.m. in the Johnstone Park Art Center.
Jessica Holeman will be sharing her art through showing her thought process and hands-on demonstration of making historical, fiction based, story-telling assemblages. Assemblage is an artistic expression or idea put together with found objects.
Raised in Caney, Kansas, Holeman currently resided there with her husband, Michael, and daughter, Raven. She started drawing at a very young age, and throughout her youth she taught herself how to draw in pencil, pen and ink, pastels and charcoal. While taking art classes in high school and college, she found she had a knack for acrylics and computer graphics. Holeman has since continued working in freelance art: taking commissions for paintings, advertising signs, logos, t-shirt designs, music album covers, poster designs and even tattoo art.
In 2008, Holeman found an article on the assemblages of Michael deMeng and became completely fascinated. After trying to make a few pieces herself, she soon realized it would be a mixing of her love of history, literature, vintage pieces and antiques that would be her artistic niche. She enjoys taking random pieces and making something new and hopefully fun. Her assemblages are a great excape for her and an unforeseen outlet for all her hobbies and interests to merge.
Holeman's work can be viewed on her Facebook page under Jessica Herrington Holeman. She can also be contacted at: jessholeman@yahoo.com .
